One of the many things we love about cars is the way they turn heads, that instinctual reaction that reaches deep into our brains to flag us down and pull our attention into imagining what life would be like behind that particular wheel.
We talk a lot at Rides & Drives about those “wow” moments – visions of lust or admiration or genius – that remind us of why we love this business. Less frequent, though equally memorable, are the “wow” moments that don’t impress us, but rather are inspired by disappointed disbelief that a machine as misguided and unfortunate could have made it not only past the drawing board but onto the assembly line and out to the streets.
Craig Cheetham’s “World’s Worst Cars” offers an insightful and often incredibly funny look into what makes these vehicles what they are, and what went wrong along the way. Side note: our fearless leader and editor-in-the-driver’s-seat Harvey Briggs worked on the line building one of the featured vehicles.
