Overfinch, for the uninitiated, has been the world’s premier Land Rover customization specialist since 1975. Initially the company was established to fix perceived shortcomings of the original Land Rover: swapping out the Rover engine a more powerful and reliable GM V8, adding an anti-lock braking system, air suspension, and luxuries such as air conditioning and leather seats. With this pedigree, Overfinch has been continuously improving and adding to their legacy, winning the Dakar Rally and design awards at SEMA.
Introducing The Latest Velocity Edition
The Velocity Edition has been the company’s flagship performance model since it was introduced in 2010. This latest edition is a comprehensive build that elevates every aspect of this premium SUV, putting it on par with ultra luxury icons, Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga, and it is better looking than either of them.
It starts under the hood with performance enhancements that boost the 4.4-liter turbocharged, mild hybrid V8 engine from 530 to 620 horsepower. Torque also sees a healthy increase from 550 to 660 lb.-ft. The sweet V8 symphony is piped through a variable valve performance exhaust system which signifies to everyone that you’re driving no ordinary Land Rover.
Outside The Box Thinking
The exterior of the Velocity Edition features a number of special touches, including a carbon fiber bonnet dome that hints at the beast that hides underneath. There are also carbon fiber wide body wheel arch extensions to make room for a special set of all-aluminum wheels. The helix design is specific to the Velocity Edition and is forged from a single block of aluminum for added strength and durability. As is the case with Rolls-Royce wheels, the center caps are self-leveling, so the Overfinch logo is always in the upright position. They are without a doubt one of the more striking wheel designs we’ve ever seen.
The Inside Story
Overfinch have long been known for their remarkable tailoring skills and use of impeccable materials. That’s on display in spades the the Velocity’s striking interior. It features their Aurora seat design which provides extra bolstering to ensure they hold the driver and passengers comfortably in place during the spirited maneuvers this SUV will undoubtedly undertake. Arancia Orange leather covers the seats, steering wheel, dash and shift lever. This color combination, along with all the updated appointments transforms the staid interior of the Land Rover Autobiography to a stunning environment.
The Price Of Perfection
As you would imaging, the Overfinch Velocity Edition, does not come cheap. It is available as a complete vehicle or can be retrofit any 2023-25 Range Rover Autobiography or SV models. the price for the exterior conversion package starts at $137,500 plus taxes, and does not include the cost of the base vehicle. But when you consider that you’ll have an SUV that’s as capable and luxurious as a Cullinan or Bentley, but rarer and better looking, that seems a fair price to pay.
